Spec Trailer for 1972 film The King of Marvin Gardens

I wanted to create a trailer for a very unconventional film, with a somewhat non-traditional plot structure. I chose Bob Rafelson’s obscure 1972 gem, The King of Marvin Gardens. To help bring the trailer together, I used Charles Mingus’ version of “Solitude” as a backing track. I feel the music worked well with the themes and mood of  the film.

Working on this trailer gave me a deeper appreciation for the film. The performances are fantastic, as is the writing, and there is a little something extra going on in every shot composition.
